Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

 

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in the year 2011, in accordance with NAAC guidelines. It helps the Principal to develop, coordinate and monitor the various activities.

 

  •  The Heads of Departments and teachers co-ordinate and plan their individual and departmental activities at the commencement of each Academic year. The Institutional  Annual Plan including training requirements, proposed improvements, feedback etc. is sent to the Principal.

 

  • The different reports such as institutional annual reports, performance appraisal reports, self appraisal reports, directives from government etc. become the basis for developing, deploying and reviewing the institutions quality policy by the Principal and IQAC.

 

  • Objectives and plans are prepared on the basis of various policies formulated and a regular follow up is maintained to provide support and coordination.

 

The institution has devised policies and mechanisms for the quality assurance of the institution. Our quality assurance policy works towards improving and maintaining the quality of education by identifying and suggesting new ways of strengthening the following quality education.

 

  • Assessment of students: In addition to external university evaluation, internal evaluation on continuous basis is ensured at the Departmental level. The concerned Department is free to decide about the evaluation methods. IQAC only suggests the methodologies for improvement.

 

  • Quality assurance of teaching staff is largely ensured strictly by adhering to the affiliating University norms. Use of self-appraisal reports has been institutionalized. Awareness programmes on development of teaching skills are held.

 

  • Learning resources and student support: An attempt is made to adopt best practices like Earn while you Learn, Golden Hour, Saturday activities etc.

  •  The IQAC meets bi-monthly to plan, direct, implement and evaluate the application of quality policies in the Institution.

 

  • The sub-committees dealing with various activities and departments implement the IQAC guidelines and report the feedback.

 

  • The institution has prepared a Perspective Plan by taking into consideration the quality indicators of Criteria determined by NAAC.

 

  • Inputs from all stakeholders, their expectations, management policies, goals and objectives of the institution are all considered as a base for formulation of the perspective plan.

 

  • Self-appraisal by teachers, introduction of teacher`s training programmes, faculty improvement programmes, encouragement to teachers for research are some of the measures taken for quality sustenance and enhancement as a strategy.

June-July, 2011

  •  A circular was sent to all the departments, students and parents of the institution informing them about the formation of the IQAC Working Committee and framing of its functions.

 

  •  It was decided to follow a uniform evaluation pattern by the entire faculty in awarding marks for record and the day to day work (daily assessment) in the laboratories and also to evolve common criteria for the evaluation of Assignments.

 

August-September, 2011

 

  •  Faculty are advised to conduct orientation classes for the Ist year B.Pharm, Pharm.D and M.Pharm students to update their knowledge oncore pharmacy subjects and the improve their performance.

 

  •  Advised to conducts separate orientation session for the IIIrd & IVth B. Pharm I semester students to create awareness among the students pertaining to placement and the higher studies. These sessions can be organized by the Training and Placement Cell to enable the students to take the right decision for their future.

 

  •  Academic Committee is advised to analyze the data as and when examination results are announced.

 

October-November, 2011

  •  It was decided to take the feedback (about the Institution) from the Students, Alumni, Parents and Employers for analysis.

 

  • The laboratory log book format was approved and the necessary directions were given to follow the same format by all faculty for all subjects of B.Pharm, Pharm.D and M.Pharm programmes.

 

December, 2011

  •  Committee instructed to the all teachers who take the first hour to note the roll numbers of the late comers and hand over the list to the Class in-charges for further action. This will improve the punctuality of the students.

 

  •  Committee advised the class in-charges to monitor the attendance regularly. The regular absentees shall be identified and the necessary counseling shall be given.

 

  •  The class in-charges are advised toanalyze the results of the internal exams of I B.Pharm, and Pharm.D students. The students who scored less than 50% marks in the I Mid exam should be instructed to attend the study hours which will be conducted in the evening time in the institution itself.

 

January-February, 2012

  •  It was decided to advise that all the IV B.Pharm and the III Sem M.Pharm students for attend the Campus interviews which are being organized by the placement cell of our institution.

 

  •  It was decided to conduct an institution level meeting by IQAC cell with all department coordinators on bimonthly basis. It will focus more on problem to be solved at institution level.

 

March-April, 2012

 

  •  It was decided that the HODs should monitor the lesson plan and the coverage of the syllabus at the regular intervals.

 

  •  While giving the Assignments to the students other than I yr of B.Pharm, Pharm.D and M.Pharm, the faculty should frame the questions base on the course content and problem solving/application oriented.

 

  •  It was decided to take the feedback (about the Institution) from the Students, Alumni, Parents and Employers for analysis.

 

  • IQAC requested to the building committee to construct the IInd Floor at the earliest before starting the next academic year class work because of the new programmes are going to be introduced.

$1Ø  IQAC advised the Academic Committee to involve the senior students for I yr B.Pharm & Pharm.D and II yr B.Pharm students during the study hours.

 

$1Ø  IQAC informed the HODs to establish “Journal Club” for IV yr B.Pharm, V & VI yr Pharm.D and I yr M.Pharm students. 

 

$1Ø  A circular was sent to all departments, students and parents of the institution, informing them about the formation of the IQAC Working Committee and framing of its functions.

$1Ø  For the optimum utilization of library resources, it is decided to conduct orientation sessions to students at the beginning of each I sem / I yr class work. The chief librarian along with his staff shall conduct the sessions in consultations with the HODsof the departments. He needs to inform the students about general rules of library,resources, books and journals, materials available for GRE, TOEFEL, GPAT and PGECET, Project works etc.and encourage them for effectiveutilization. 

 

$1Ø  IQAC advised the chief librarian to take feedback on library resources / facilities at least once in a year for future development of library resources.

$1Ø  IQAC advised the librarian that “Book Bank”systemshallbemaintainedtocatertheneedsofthereaderson time to time basis and also advised him for maintaining transparency in the issue of books to the students and staff.

 

$1Ø  To bring qualitative changes in the existing lesson plans, Dr. Mohan Varma and Dr. N. Silvia have been asked to prepare a full-fledged model pedagogic lesson plan on subjects including the resources and various methodologies used to make an effective presentation.  

 

$1Ø  It was decided to conduct the Annual Day in the month of February, 2015. The Cultural in-charge was requested to complete all the competitions and the cultural activities before January- 2015.

$1Ø  Coordinator of IQAC and members of IQAC were deputed to monitor, review and assess the implementation of the resolutions of IQAC at the department level and to appraise the situation to the principal, on time to time basis.

The students who avail outing facility shall mention the return date before taking permission. If they fail to attend institution as per the given date, they shall not be given outings further.

 

$1Ø  The responsibilities of the class-in-charges shall be redefined with specific targets. They should maintain record of regular absentees of students and late arrivals. They should also verify the attendance of the students after outings.

$1Ø  IQAC insisted the HODs to verify the maintenance of “Journal Club” for IV yr B.Pharm, V & VI yr Pharm.D and I yr M.Pharm students.

$1ü  A report on any eminent personality as and when they visit the Institution/Department.

 

December, 2015

 

$1Ø  The members discussed various mechanisms for enhancing awareness about IQAC among students. It is proposed to conduct meetings with all the students and faculty and involve them in transforming the institution as a center of excellence.

 

$1Ø  It was decided and advised the academic committee for conducting make-up tests for academically weak students who scored less than 50% of internal marks.

 

$1Ø  Advised to prepare and submit the lesson plans of II Semester for all B.Pharm courses. And also insisted to provide the practical manuals for II B.Pharm (II semester) course.

$1Ø  It has come to the notice of the IQAC that less number of students are attending the training classes conducted in the campus for competitive examinations. In this connection IQAC recommends to conduct ‘Awareness Programme’ for students to bring necessary motivation regarding competitive exams.

 

$1Ø  All the teachers were directed to focus on attendance before the beginning of the class and seek explanations from the students who were absent in their previous class-work.

 

$1Ø  Advised the academic committee that any repairs / pending works in class rooms, labs and instruments etc to get completed at the earliest.
